MEMBERNEWS A game of golf for a good cause
Three Chamber members have held charity golf days, raising significant amounts for good causes. Golfers from Willmott Dixon
swapped safety boots for golf shoes as they put their skills to the test in support of the Matt Hampson Foundation. Teams chipped in with partners
and guests, including former England cricketers Paul Nixon and Charles Dagnall, ex-Scotland rugby captain Bryan Redpath, Irish Rugby Union coach and former player Geordan Murphy and current players from Leicester Tigers and Wasps. A total of £20,000 was raised for
the charity, which provides support for young people who have suffered life-changing injuries through sport. Nick Preedy, Construction Manager at Willmott Dixon, said: “Our charity golf day was a brilliant success, and we were thrilled to support such a wonderful cause. To work on a project that will have an
immeasurable impact on people’s lives has been special for all of us and it is certainly one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.” Meanwhile, Macmillan Cancer
Support and East Staffordshire Midland Air Ambulance benefited from fundraising by Else Solicitors, following a golf day at Branston Golf Club. The annual event, attended by
the Mayor and Mayoress of East Staffordshire, Chris and Jane Smith, was held in aid of charities supported by the Mayor of East Staffordshire and raised £2,642 from donations taken from the golf day and matched funding from Barclays. Else Solicitors’ Managing Partner
Chris Else said: “Our firm has a strong commitment to helping local communities. Holding our annual golf day in aid of the Mayor’s Charities means the event helps generate business opportunities and helps charities deliver services and support.

the day was very successful with 22 teams taking part. Despite the weather we raised a total of £2,600, with massive support from Kim Radley at Barclays Bank and her team who match funded the event.” Ilkeston-based housebuilder
Fairgrove Homes also hosted its annual charity golf day, at Morley Hayes Hotel, in support of its three nominated charities. The event was put in place over
30 years ago and raises money for Treetops Hospice, The Ben Parker Trust Fund and Padley Group.
This year’s event raised over
£3,000 - to be split equally between the three nominated charities. Fairgrove Homes’ Managing
Director, Steve Midgley, said: “It is a pleasure to continually be involved in hosting such a fantastic annual event which raises vital funds for three fantastic charities. “We’re delighted to have gone
one better than last year by raising an additional £1,000, and I am looking forward to growing the event year-on-year to raise further awareness and money for three very worth causes.”
