THE FIRST WORD

Welcome to November’s edition of Business Network. The theme of November’s magazine is Finance; an area pertinent to fledgling

start-ups, long-established multi-nationals and every growth stage in between. With this in mind, highlights from this month’s edition include an exclusive

interview with RSM’s Kevin Harris, who talks about his career to date and offers a fascinating insight into the world of enterprise and how businesses can look to grow sustainably. It’s also a chance for Chamber members to get to know Kevin, who this month

takes the Presidential reins at the Chamber; complimenting his existing role as Chair of the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP). Page 50 contains a focus feature written by Julian Smith, Managing Director of

The Alternative Board, Derby, in which he outlines some of the key strategic considerations for SMEs looking to access finance in order to grow – a must-read for any company looking to secure finance in the future and gain maximum value. This edition also contains a glut of wins and successes from our members across

the region, including a significant milestone for a Chamber strategic partner. The December edition of Business Network is, as ever, a double edition spanning

December and January. The theme will be Retail – particularly relevant as we approach the busy festive period; a crucial time for businesses, especially in that sector. The Chamber’s Business Network magazine is a great vehicle for members to

showcase their hard-fought wins, successes and significant news across all areas of business. If you have a piece – or an idea – that you would like considering for a future edition, email magazine@emc-dnl.co.uk or call me on 0333 320 0333 ext 2089.

Best wishes, Nathan Fearn Editor, Business Network
