The Chamber offers a wide and diverse range of training support for members and non-members alike, all with the aim of enhancing skills, developing knowledge and driving the growth of your business

Government boost for skills funding

The Government recently announced a package of measures to support business to boost skills, growth and prosperity in the new economy. The Chancellor, Philip Hammond,

pledged support for apprenticeships and adult training, to boost management skills in small businesses and to ensure the UK’s world-class regulatory system is fit for the future. He announced a package of

reforms and £95m increase to the Apprenticeship Levy to ensure it continues to help businesses train people with the skills they need for the new economy. A recent Government review of

productivity found the UK’s thriving small business community is facing a management skills challenge. To address this, the Chancellor announced £20m will be invested in networks to enable small businesses to learn from each other, while a further £11m will pay for a training programme that will build the necessary management skills lacking in many SMEs. And, as a leading and respected

training provider and the region’s largest business support representation organisation, the Chamber is well primed to assist

“The advantage of working with the Chamber is that we have a bespoke programme entirely to suit us. We’re a small business and can be very busy at certain times so it’s very important that the service is flexible and they can accommodate that. The programme can also be tailored, for instance, we need to improve IT skills within the business and so the Chamber will be offering that at the next stage of training. We’re really well supported, the trainer has been absolutely fantastic and a huge support to the guys. We get excellent support and great results and all with minimal disruption – it’s definitely the way to go for a small business.”
