Pub builds on sound advice to win award


The owners of a gastro pub have praised their accountants for being instrumental in the pub’s continuing growth, after being named Leicestershire and Rutland Dining Pub of the Year. Ben Jones, who co-owns The


Olive Branch, said: “From the start Newby Castleman was very much a part of the Olive Branch family and helped us source finance and introduced us to a trusted local solicitor. “The partners at the firm then


helped us make the most of our assets and supported us in our investment plans which has led to the addition of luxury accommodation and allowed us to grow this village pub into an exceptional dining experience for guests.”


Company Image in biggest refurbishment


Midlands-based company interior specialists Company Image has completed one of its biggest refurbishment projects after the company was called in by Vivid Laminating Technologies, one of Europe’s leading designer and manufacturer of laminating systems, after it outgrew its premises. Vivid’s offices host several


bespoke features which Company Image designed and fitted to specific dimensions, including a bar area and a bespoke audio unit for the boardroom. Martin Evans, Vivid’s Managing Director, said: “Company Image was tasked with transforming our office and warehousing facility into a contemporary place for employees and clients to enjoy. The whole process right from the initial consultation all the way through to design and installation was professional and to a very high standard.”


Coaching inn gets its own bespoke beer


Derby Brewing Company has been commissioned to produce a house beer for The Old Bell hotel, Derby’s oldest coaching inn. Established in 1650, the Old Bell is a beacon of Derby’s history and heritage. The brew - a 4.3% easy drinking amber ale - has been named ‘Clear as a Bell’ and is on the bar now. Derby Brewing Company


Director Paul Harris said: “We work with the venue to identify the flavour and style of the beer they want then our brewing and marketing teams produce something truly unique that will really stand out on the bar.”

Law firm Shakespeare Martineau has joined forces with SportsAid to celebrate the achievements of three local rising stars in the world of sport, in an event held at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. The national law firm has long-


held ties with the British sporting community, working closely with SportsAid, a charity designed to help young sports people overcome financial challenges they may face in their bid to become Britain’s next generation of Olympians, Paralympians and world champions.

Shakespeare Martineau will help towards the training costs, equipment and competition expenses for these talented athletes. Following the presentation of


their award cheques, the evening focused on the links between success in sport and business. A Q&A was then hosted by the CEO of SportsAid, Tim Lawler, who interviewed 2016 Olympic Games GB hockey player and gold medallist Helen Richardson-Walsh and Niamh Emerson, who won bronze in this year’s Gold Coast

Pattonair flies on to Top Track list


Derby-based aerospace and defence supply chain service provider Pattonair is one of the UK’s fastest-growing medium- sized businesses, according to the Sunday Times. The firm was the only Derby


company to make this year’s Sunday Times’ Top Track 250 league table. Pattonair was a new entrant,


ranking at number 68 on the index, having recorded sales of £320m and profits of £27m in the financial year ending March 2017. The firm provides distribution


and supply chain management services to the aerospace and defence sectors, including sourcing, inspecting and delivering a range of products such as bearings, fasteners and seals. It has operations in Germany, Poland, Italy, France, Singapore, China, Canada, the US and Brazil. Its customers are aero engine
