Finding a better software solution for your business

By Tony Richardson, Senior Exact Consultant at Chamber patron Shorts

There are a number of software solutions in the market that provide users with business insight based on a solid accounts foundation. One of these solutions is a system called Exact Online. Exact was developed by a Dutch software firm by the same name and is among Europe’s leading cloud business software solutions.

WHAT DOES EXACT ONLINE DO? Exact Online can hold its own in the entry level market, for those businesses that require an online accounting solution that enables the user to create an invoice, produce standard monthly financial reports and of course be MTD (making tax digital) compliant. However, where it really stands out from the competition is for companies looking for a fully-integrated online solution that can offer: • CRM built in as standard • Advanced inventory management • Multi-warehouse stock control • Drop shipment • Material resource planning • Serial and batch tracing • Multi-level bill of materials • Unprecedented manufacturing control • Real-time shop floor time and material tracking.

With different product tiers available on an SAAS-based model there is the flexibility to select the tier that offers the right feature set for you.

WHY SHOULD I CHANGE TO EXACT? Consider the system you are currently using and ask the following questions: • Am I getting everything out of my current system that I would like to help run my business?

• What do I like about my current system? • What would I change about my current system if I could? • Does it work for everyone in the business or just one area? • Could I access my business information whenever and wherever I want, or am I confined to accessing it in my office?

• When was the last time I spoke to someone about my internal systems and processes?

If you think it might be a good time to begin your journey to a

potentially better business solution for you then the Software Projects team at Shorts can help you navigate the path.

TAB Derby’s Jimi Ball addresses delegates

A personal vision is key to success

Looking after number one was the message to business owners who attended a special Chamber event at Derby Conference Centre in conjunction with new patron, The Alternative Board, Derby. TAB Derby’s facilitators Julian

Smith and Jimi Ball demonstrated how a personal vision is key to a company’s success. Event delegates were challenged

to consider their energy levels towards both their business and personal lives and were then shown how the two are interlinked to the benefit of staff and family. Three TAB members spoke of

how they have benefited from different perspective offered by TAB boards. They said how being accountable

to peers in both their personal and professional ambitions had given them renewed energy and helped

them re-align their respective companies. Thirty chamber businesses were

represented at the event and were invited to further taster sessions with The Alternative Board to see if membership would be right for them. Julian Smith said: “It was a

pleasure to be part of our first event since becoming a patron of the Chamber. “We would also be delighted if

some of its members could benefit from the support structure which TAB offers. “We are here to change the lives

of business owners who find that their personal and professional energies need revitalising. “We would be keen to hear from

any chamber members who would like to come to our taster sessions, whether they were at the event at Derby Conference Centre or not.”
