Harrier’s health and safety services take to the stage
The work of Derbyshire-based health and safety event experts Harrier has been in the spotlight during the summer event season. The Castle Donington company has brought years of event management and health and safety expertise to the much- anticipated Jay-Z and Beyoncé On the Run II Tour, and two dates of Taylor Swift’s UK visit. These events mark a
successful period for Harrier. The team worked across several dates of the On the Run II UK tour, including the world premiere at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium. Harrier had been on hand at the Etihad Stadium just days before, for the visit of Taylor Swift, and also assisted at her concert under the famous Wembley arch. Harrier’s Managing Director
Andy Smith said: “This has been such a phenomenal year for us here at Harrier, to bring our expertise and know-how to two of the major tours, running concurrently during the summer, was challenging but hugely rewarding.”
PwC voted top graduate employer once again
PwC has been voted the UK’s number one graduate employer in The Times’ Top 100 Graduate Employers for an unprecedented 15th consecutive year. The ranking is based on interviews with 19,147 final-year students. Over 50,000 students applied
for 1,216 graduate and 550 school leaver places at PwC this year, nearly 36 people for every place. The firm’s offering to graduates continues to evolve, with 60% of graduate roles now based outside of London and new routes into the firm created to make sure that opportunities are open to all. Kevin Ellis, Chairman and
Senior Partner at PwC, said: “We’re delighted that for the 15th year in a row university graduates have voted us the top graduate employer. Over that time, we have recruited, trained and developed more than 15,000 graduates and provided work experience for more than 5,000 undergraduates. “We want to attract and
retain the most talented people so we’re continually evolving our recruitment processes to ensure they’re as inclusive as possible. Last year we recruited from over 100 universities, launched our fully-funded technology degree apprenticeships and hired the majority of our graduate roles outside of London.”

Support for talent is rewarded
Nottinghamshire-based construction and development firm Woodhead Group has scooped Learning Unlimited’s Employer of the Month award for its long-held commitment to supporting young talent. The family-owned company, which
operates across the East Midlands and South Yorkshire, earned the title after demonstrating consistent dedication to developing its workforce through apprenticeships. That strong commitment to
developing its apprentices is firmly at the heart of the company, for its founder, Bob Woodhead, began his
own career back in 1935 as a joinery apprentice. He later established the now multi-award- winning construction company and 70 years later the firm continues to place great importance on its apprentice programme. David Higham, Commercial
Director at Learning Unlimited, said: “Woodhead Group is very deserving of this award. We are pleased to be working in partnership with the company. Woodhead has a fantastic approach to apprenticeships and is a keen supporter of developing young people.”
Matt Bust, Business Support Manager, added: “Our people are our biggest asset and we are committed to developing our people across the group. The company has a long history in providing opportunities to apprentices. “Our newest apprentices are spending time working in different departments of the business while also attending Chesterfield College. “It gives them the chance to find
out which areas they prefer and discover where their strengths lie so that we can develop their skills in their preferred route.”
