In chromatography, the mobile phase is a solvent (liquid, gas, supercritical fluid) that moves through or along the stationary phase of a column resulting in movement of sample molecules. Separation of a mixture of analytes is achieved by differences in their inter actions between the mobile and stationary phases.


• 258 molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)


An artificial affinity material consisting of a synthetic polymer, which is formed in the presence of a compound (the template), that is later removed and thus leaves specific binding sites or cavity for the template and structurally related molecules.


• 259 monitoring peptide


In protein LC–MS bioanalysis, a term used to describe a unique peptide derived from the proteolytic digestion of a specific protein analyte, but one that is different from the surrogate peptide. The signal from the monitoring peptide(s) is normally ratioed to that of the surrogate peptide for a given sample, and variations in this could be reflective of the stability of the protein analyte in vivo. In specific cases there may be more than one monitoring peptide for a given protein analyte.
