BTM.tv at work in the Showcase arena (Liz Morris).

MGF Register keenly awaiting entrants for the radio-controlled car competition (Ian Hunter).

Gone Country providing the soundtrack right next to the ice cream parlour! Johnny Cash, strawberry ice cream, sunshine, gleaming custom cars, a little line dancing and chilling out on the hay bales all made for a great day out and helped to give this year’s show a unique character and atmosphere. With hundreds of cars it was a difficult job for

the judges to choose a top three in each category, but it was a task that they took to with enthusiasm, coming up with worthy winners. The Car of the Show trophy went to Barry Tickle with his magnificent 1929 Vauxhall Hurlingham and the trophies were presented by Brooklands Trust Members Chairman Neil Bailey. MC Keith Barry kept up the commentary in the Paddock and the BTM.tv crew were busy interviewing drivers of chosen cars in the Showcase arena, which featured a rare Monteverdi, a Dellow and even a Bond Bug.

Brooklands (some cardboard cars and aero- planes!) to be coloured in and a radio control car challenge – the heat may have discouraged families coming along as we didn’t get too many takers for those but there were enough for some winners nonetheless. You rarely see Brooklands look much busier

than at this show, which although aimed at mem- bers, attracts entrants and traders from far and wide – it had the feel of a Members’ Day crossed with a car show and shopping experience, all with Brooklands itself thrown in for good measure. Was it a classic classic? It certainly felt that way and all the positive feedback makes it seem like it, but we say that every year and as new elements are added at every show, we shall no doubt be saying the same again next year! The date for your diaries is Sunday 21st July 2019 – don’t miss it!
