pleasure to put on a display for such a well- behaved and interesting group. I am looking forward to doing the same thing next year – it is a great excuse to have a ‘play’ on what is such a spectacular piece of Track.
John Bottomley For this year’s visit the Motorcycle Volunteer
Team provided a Ducati racing machine and a 650 BSA on what was a perfect summer’s day. The session started with a safety briefing for the class to make them aware of potential risks, instructing them where they could shoot from behind the safety barriers, the need for them to be aware of what was going on at all times and that it was important to be extra vigilant when the bike was running. To minimise the risk to a rider the safety clothing they have to wear was explained, including leathers, boots, helmet and gloves. With a quick reminder from the teacher of the
effects that they should be looking to create it was off to the real business. A number of runs past the safety barrier were undertaken at differing speeds but being on the Banking gave the opportunity to experiment with a moving object against a static background. Further runs were undertaken on the Finishing Straight and as a finale a couple of passes were made towards the top of the Banking. To finish the session the class had the chance to photograph the bikes close up and also be photographed on them. You can see here a small
