World War Two veterans river cruise – cars and drivers required Dear Angela [Hume – BTM Tours and Trips], I hope that you and your fellow car enthusiasts will be able to support this event again which will be on Sunday 2nd of September. We hope to have 20 Dunkirk Little Ships to provide a river cruise for over a hundred World War Two veterans and their carers. Last year we had a reduced number of cars and struggled to convey all the veterans and carers back to the Thames Motor Yacht Club (TMYC) at Hampton Court. A number of drivers kindly did two runs. Last year TMYC were able to keep their car
park clear for cars to turn and a number of drivers took the opportunity to take refreshments there. As in previous years the veterans will board
the Little Ships at the TMYC and enjoy a morning cruise upstream to Weybridge Mariners, where they will be provided with lunch. The departure point by car for the veterans return to Hampton Court will be from the small car park at the junction of Thames Street and Walton Lane in Weybridge. The nearest postcode is KT13 8LR. We would like the cars to be there by 2.00pm ready for departure from 3.00pm onwards. The easiest route from Weybridge to the
TMYC is east along Walton Lane, right at the T-junction with the A244, then left at the lights on the A3050 through Walton-on-Thames, sign- posted Hampton Court. After crossing Hampton Court Bridge turn left at the roundabout in front of the Palace and the entrance to the yacht club is 50 metres on the left adjacent to Rotary Court. A set down and turning area will be kept clear. Drivers are welcome to stop at the TMYC to enjoy the riverside bar before going home. The total distance is 7.5 miles. See
www.tmyc.co.uk its postcode is KT8 9BW. If you have any questions or require clarifica-
