stage, we are agreed that the printed edition will move to an A4 format and that an (optional) digital edition will be available, for those who prefer to read on tablets or smart-phones. Our talks and events are increasingly well

supported, and are primarily offered as a benefit of membership rather than simply to raise funds, but both programmes have raised significant amounts for the Museum over the last year. With over 2,500 Club level members, it is

important that we provide them with an excellent food and drink service in the Members’ Bar. We are aware that the level of service has not always come up to the standards that we expect, but continuing discussions with CreativEvents (the caterers) have resulted in a significant improve- ment which we intend to maintain. We have introduced a number of changes to the ordering system, which appear to be working well, but we

MEMBERS’ MATTERS

Jumble in July either by bringing classics along, taking a stall or car boot or simply by coming along and enjoying the day. We have had lots of members saying what a brilliant day it was, the weather, the music, the shopping and the cars and bikes all helped of course – thanks to the hard work of the organising team and helpers on the day too. There is a report elsewhere so I won’t dwell on it here. Member Barry Tickle was a deserved winner of the Car of the Show with his gorgeous 1929 Vauxhall Hurlingham and we hoped to see the car again soon – maybe at the Reunion in August. On that subject, the 2018 members’ badge went on sale at that event and is available now via our on-line shop or by calling the BTM office, priced £7.50. Our karting event was good fun and a real

challenge in the heat of a hot summer’s day. There is a report elsewhere but it is still a mystery to us that we had no entries for the junior sprint challenge – I wonder why that was? The previous two years had seen plenty of under-16s taking part but this year none at all. Do we drop the junior challenge now, I wonder, or are there young members wanting to get involved in 2019? Let us know. The AGM We held the AGM in July and presented the new constitution which was approved. This details the BTM’s aims, objectives and rules in one

hank you to all those members who supported the BTM Classic Car Show and

are keeping the issue of catering at busy events under constant review, as we fully appreciate that Club level members quite rightly have high expectations. I would like to thank all of you as members for

supporting both the BTM and the Museum, we really appreciate it! Finally I must thank our Committee, without whom none of the successes of the last 10 years would have been possible; all are volunteers and give their time freely to ensure that the membership is so enjoyable and reward- ing. Two stalwarts of the Committee are retiring this year – Len Battyll and Bryan Reynolds, both of whom have made an immense contribution to the founding and development of the BTM. I thank them both for all that they have done and hope that we continue to see them here at Brooklands for many years to come.

document. Our secretary, Kevin Lee, working with others, has simplified the original constitu- tion which was produced back in 2008. Times have moved on in 10 years and the organisation is much bigger, so it was due for a fresh look. We hope that it is simpler to understand now and you can view it for yourself via our website at www.brooklandsmembers.co.uk – select ‘About’ and ‘Constitution’. We said goodbye to two long-term committee

members, both of whom were integral in the formation of the BTM and both served on the Brooklands Society committee previously. Len
