Munster
Senior Hurling Championship Last Sunday afternoon
in Thurles Cork defeat- ed Clare in the Munster Hurling final by 2-24 to 3-19 before a crowd of just under its capacity of 46,000; Conor Lehane played at centre forward and scored 0-01. The game was played
in extremely warm con- ditions and Cork didn’t cope well
with Clare’s
pace throughout most of the first half. With minutes to go to the halftime whis- tle Cork were eight points in arrears but quick fire scores from Luke Meade (goal) and Mark Cole- man (sideline)
crucially
reduced the deficit to just four. In the second half Cork took control and in
less than a quarter of an hour having outscored Clare by six points to just one they took the lead and pushed on for a great win to retain their title. Con- grats to all involved and to captain Seamus Harnedy proudly representing
the
St Ita’s club in Gortroe. Cork now progress to
the All Ireland semi final on the weekend of the 28/29th
of July. Munster

Camogie we travelled
(Camógaíochta) U7/U8: Last weekend to
Inniscar-
ra for another U8 blitz. Our opponents on this occasion were Castlemar- tyr, Cloughduv Sarsfields and hosts Inniscarra. With twenty young Mag- pies available we played two teams and each team played three matches so all of our girls saw plenty of playing time. Once again all of our players showed great work ethic,
team
spirit and determination in all their games. It was great to see the develop- ment of our young players and some very high skill levels on display. Everyone performed brilliantly and all enjoyed the very well organise camogie fun. Well done to the young ladies on a super effort and a big thank you to Inniscarra for hosting. U9: On Sunday after- noon last in blistering heat we hosted an U9 blitz, we welcomed

was a great afternoon of camogie. Thanks to all the teams that travelled and all who helped out on the day. U10: Friday evening we
travelled to Castlelyons to play the hosts. Despite the very hot conditions, re- quiring extra water breaks it was a very competitive match with some great skills on display from both sides. The girls continue to develop and hone the skills learned and continue to improve week on week. Thanks to the girls and their patents for travelling and to Castlelyons for wel- coming us. a great game between two excellent sides that battled away in sweltering heat, it was a tight game but our girls just piped it at the end, we would like to thank Blackrock camogie for being great hosts and look forward to meeting them again in the future. U15: We kicked off our
U15 Imokilly league last Friday evening on home ground V Erin’s Own. With
the holiday season
upon us both panels were short so we played 12 a side. We were grateful for the short respite we got from the extreme heat.
