The combinations of tech-


niques I use create one-of-a kind statement pieces. I hand forge and shape brass, copper and silver into unique body adorn- ment. Various textures and finishes


are used; for example hammer texture, high polish heat patina, liver of sulfur and others. Some semi precious cabochons are used. Other techniques used are riveting, counter sinking, piercing, chain making and upsetting.

I have a strong


interest in the Shak- er and Arts and Crafts Movements. I am inspired by the integrity of crafts- manship and pu- rity of design that exemplified these movements. Much of my


work is accented by laminating many small pieces of wood together to form unique inlay designs. I like to create func- tional pieces that are elegant in design yet honor the natu- ral characteristics of the wood.


I begin all of my functional artwork with rough sawn


hardwoods. All veneer work is done entirely by hand. Other techniques I use include laminating, creating original unique inlay designs, dovetail keys, miter spines and dado joinery. All techniques were self taught. Dave was 2017 Art in the Wilds Best of Show - 3D award
