Painting (Oils on canvas) I am greatly inspired by being out in

nature. Whether it be in the spring and summer when the woods are coming alive with all shades of green, the fall when every color imaginable can be found, or during the winter when the col- ors turn to whites, grays, browns and blacks. Each sea- son provides me with inspiration. I like painting color and studying how it changes in different light and during the seasons. I spend a lot of

back of each painting. Many times I’ll use the

lighting and colors I’ve cap- tured in these “Plein Airs” in my studio to help bring larger studio paintings to life. I truly enjoy painting. My painting starts with a

quick sketch on the canvas. I do most of my drawing with my paints. I premix my colors with a palette knife and then I start a painting, working with broad strokes to block in all my colors on the canvas. Over the years, I’ve

made some changes in the style of my paintings. Today, I use thicker paint and more color, putting in enough detail but not be- ing photographic. Some of my painting will have paint as thick as 3/16”. When
