Metal Sculpture

Art in the Wilds 2018

I started cre-

ating art more than 45 years ago, as a way of expressing my- self without be- ing verbal, due to a hearing dis-

ability. I reflect on the past while celebrating the present, for inspiration. I am self-taught and have been exhibiting metal sculp-

tures since the early 1970s. I exhibit at many major shows in the Northeast, with works currently in galleries and pri- vate collections around the world. My works are primarily welded steel or other metals, adding glass, color or vintage items and other accents.

My materials, much like people, are often imperfect,

showing signs of wear, yet able to be transformed into something new. I try to either make a statement or create a piece of whimsy. Art conveys a message. Sometimes that message is in your face and sometimes it’s just for fun.

Jewelry When I de-

sign a specific piece, I believe it is a work of wearable art for the buyer. I am giving that specific piece a part of me and truly love see-

ing someone else enjoy wearing the jewelry as much as I love making it. I get my inspiration from everywhere; a unique bead

a lovely sunset, rain drops on a windowsill and most of all from my daughter Whitney. I believe that jewelry en- hances the beauty of a woman, and I truly enjoy seeing that special piece of jewelry magnify her natural beauty. My creative process varies from simply sketching a de-

sign, looking at a color combination, or learning a different or unique stitch in one of my classes taught by a Master Instructor.
