Article leads to award for Chamber member
Chamber member Peter Duffell is celebrating after winning the award for ‘Best Industry Article of the Year’ from Coaching at Work magazine, with colleague Dr Carmelina Lawton Smith. Their ‘Once more with feeling’
article aimed to raise awareness of the importance of emotions in coach supervision. Judges said it “brought an important issue to the table in a very thorough, thought-provoking and interesting manner”. Peter, an executive coach, said:
“It is enormously satisfying to win and be further recognised within my own field. It is already a rewarding career for me, helping people who want to be more successful through developing new skills or overcoming challenges they feel might be getting in the way of progress.”
‘Good’ Ofsted report for R.E.A.L Independent
Ofsted has awarded R.E.A.L Independent School a ‘good’ rating overall – with two out of five areas inspected classed as ‘outstanding’. The report gave a glowing
reflection of the Nottingham- based school, stating that its “senior leaders are united in their unceasing drive for excellence,” and that “an environment of high expectations and continual improvement permeates all levels of the school”. Nikki Purcell, Headteacher,
said: “It is marvellous that the inspection has highlighted the hard work and high expectations of staff.”

Nottingham creative agency, The Dairy, has been highly commended for its transformation of Notts County FC’s Haydn Green Family Stand, which was unveiled to fans recently. Notts County – the world’s oldest
football league club – has worked with The Dairy to help transform the stand to make it an exciting place for families on match days. The Dairy’s Account Executive,
Tom Walters, said: “One wall of the concourse is now dedicated to an A-Z of the club, while the opposite wall depicts eight key ‘snapshot’ images telling key moments or explaining important stories relating to the club. “In addition, we’ve also created a
‘Welcome to Meadow Lane’ design, an interactive height measuring
wall for kids, and a ‘Welcome to the Family Stand’ sign.” Sarah Gooding, Marketing and
Fan Engagement Executive at Notts County, added: “The Dairy has done a fantastic job of helping us to totally transform the whole
area – everyone at the club is absolutely thrilled with the result. Our Family Stand is now a warm, welcoming, visually-engaging area within the ground and we’re sure it will continue to be well-received by fans for a long time to come.”

Campaign aims to get snappers to take a Peak
Social media users are being invited to share their stunning shots of what they think is unique and inspiring about the Peak District and Derbyshire in a new hashtag campaign aiming to spread the word about its most special and secret gems. Marketing Peak District & Derbyshire, the area’s
official tourist board, has launched #UniqueDistrict in a bid to promote the essence and spirit of the area with the help of the expanding online community. #UniqueDistrict was launched on the tourist board’s
Twitter feed – @vpdd – when a video outlining full details of how to enter was released. People can tweet their images, using @vpdd and #UniqueDistrict, and their submissions will go forward,
with competition entries running until 1 November. #UniqueDistrict will then continue to run for another ten months to encourage even more people to join the online conversation. Lindsay Rae, the tourist board’s Deputy Director,
said: “We’re asking people to post images of their favourite features of the Peak District and Derbyshire – everything from breathtaking landscapes and fabulous attractions to their favourite cafés and restaurants serving locally-sourced food and drink. “We’ll be posting the best entries across our
Instagram and Twitter accounts, and there’ll be quality prizes on offer in a series of competitions from September to the beginning of November.”
