The Problem

For example in the haulage industry there is a general shortage of HGV drivers. However many of these drivers spend their working lives in a relatively static position

while driving. It is almost inevitable as they get older that they will have difficulty sustaining their weight at normal levels and/or ensuring their fitness to drive. This is a significant problem. The Dept of Transport has sought to place the responsibility upon the employer but this places a burden upon industry. It can cost £500 to screen someone’s health. Moreover the test results are often unable to determine whether someone is or is not fit to drive. There is a need for a better, quicker, safer and significantly less expensive way of screening the health.
