Comms firm nominated for national award

Window safety firm wins Queen’s Award accolade


After 14 years of hard work and thousands of lives safeguarded worldwide, window restrictor specialists Jackloc has officially received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation, the most prestigious award in UK business. Established in Leicestershire in


2003, Jackloc is a family-owned, family-run business, which supplies its British-made cable restrictors to a diverse range of organisations across the world. Friends, family, customers and dignitaries joined the Jackloc team at its Leicestershire headquarters for the event, including Police and Crime Commissioner Lord Bach and High Sheriff for the region, Tim Maxted. After the Grant of Appointment was read by the Clerk

Cathelco deal floats Navy’s boat


Cathelco has signed a contract to supply equipment for the first three vessels in a new generation of warships, which will have a major role across the full spectrum of the Royal Navy’s operations. The Type 26 Frigates will be


installed with two types of Cathelco systems, one protecting the underwater hull surface against corrosion and the other designed to prevent blockages in engine seawater cooling system pipework caused by bio-fouling. A key role of the warships will be


to protect the new Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers from hostile submarines. Cathelco has also supplied the vessels’ hull corrosion protection and marine growth prevention systems.


Due to start the manufacturing


phase in the coming weeks at BAE Systems’ shipyard in Glasgow, the first ship is scheduled to enter service in the 2020s. Justin Salisbury, Managing


Director at Cathelco, said: “As a British company, we are delighted to be supplying equipment for the Type 26 warships, particularly as we supplied and upgraded systems on their predecessors.”
