The 45 family businesses through to the final stage of the Midlands Family Business Awards 2017 have been announced, with 36 East Midlands family firms – including Chamber members –making up the coveted finalist places in this year’s ten award categories. Through to the final stage of the


various categories are Chamber members A1 Flue Systems, Dalycom, DerbyDaysOut.com and Ward Recycling. Chamber patron John Pye


Auctions and Chamber members PwC, Shakespeare Martineau and The Wilson Organisation are all individual sponsors of category awards. All finalists now meet the Awards’ individual category independent judging panels, with each one led by a leading family business person, supported by a sponsor representative, an industry expert and a representative from the Awards team. The finalists are also automatically


entered into the People’s Choice Award, which will see them face the public vote to find the overall Winner and Highly Commended businesses. Now in their eighth year, the not-

demonstrate the exceptional pedigree of the family businesses based across the Midlands, and the finalists together prove the family business sector’s vital contribution to the region’s economy.”


Bus company’s service is just the ticket


Bus company trentbarton is in the running for two prestigious awards recognising outstanding customer experience and service. trentbarton is a finalist in the


Customer Centric Culture category, where it is up against companies including Waitrose, Scottish Widows and Capital One. And it is also a finalist in the


Customer Experience Team of the Year category, where one of its rivals for the award is Scottish Water. trentbarton was also a finalist in


the Chamber’s Derbyshire Business Awards last month in the category for Excellence in Customer Service.
