PROPERTY Residential scheme given go ahead
Nottingham-based Franklin Ellis Architects has announced a new £40m residential scheme on Vaughan Way, Leicester. The 260,000sq ft development, delivered by Leicester- based developer and fellow Chamber member Sowden Group, will bring 297 luxury rental apartments, commercial space, a rooftop garden and car parking to the formerly derelict site and will be 11 storeys tall. Partner David Franklin and
Associate Partner Joe Taylor at Franklin Ellis are providing architecture and landscaping services for the scheme, due for completion in April 2019.
Joe said: “We have been involved in the planning of this development alongside Sowden Group for many years and it’s great to see work underway. The site has been derelict for several years and this ambitious development will significantly enhance the area. This is the second large scheme that Franklin Ellis has worked on in the past two years in Leicester alongside Sowden Group, having previously delivered the £20m mixed-use development in New Walk. Roy Coley, Managing Director of Sowden Group, said: "This is a great development which will considerably enhance a side of the inner ring road which has been neglected in the past."
