Mortgage applications top £100m


Hinckley & Rugby topped more than £100m of net mortgage applications in the first half of its current financial year. In the six months to the end


of May 2017 there was £103m worth of applications and £94m was advanced, including £20m to first-time buyers. The full-year target for net applications is £200m. Growth in the Society’s


mortgage book in the first half of £38m was funded by net retail savings receipts of £25m, with the balance coming from long- term Bank of England funding facilities. Chief Executive, Chris White,


said: “Thanks to our dedicated staff, the Society is on target to achieve the big milestones set out in our business plan for 2017.”


Total Motion ranked 40th in East Midlands Top 200 Report


Leicester-based vehicle management company Total Motion has taken 40th place in the East Midlands Top 200 Report 2017, making it one of the region’s fastest growing and best performing businesses. Its ranking puts Total Motion,

Pellacraft makes living wage commitment


The Living Wage Foundation has announced that Mansfield-based business gifts and promotional merchandise specialists Pellacraft has been accredited as a Living Wage employer. The company’s Living Wage


commitment will see everyone at Pellacraft, regardless of whether they are direct employees or third-party contracted staff, receive a minimum hourly wage of £8.45, significantly higher than the statutory minimum for over- 25s of £7.50 per hour introduced in April. Pellacraft Director, Sam Pella,


said: “One of our core company values is that we believe in people before profit and one of our main aims is to promote workers’ rights and social justice.”

Transport business recognised for its 'innovative thinking'


Nottingham-based transport planning and research business ITP has received national recognition for its efforts, along with Derby City Council, to promote sustainable travel options at the annual Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation’s Awards in London. Based in Nottingham’s Creative


Quarter, the ITP team was commended for its innovative thinking and creativity in delivering an effective marketing and engagement campaign to encourage staff based at Derby businesses to walk, cycle, use


“We relish working on projects that make a real difference to society’’


public transport and car share for their commute to work. The Connected project was


delivered in partnership with Derby City Council and set out to reduce local traffic congestion and improve local air quality by promoting active and sustainable transport and gained the support of over 250 Derby businesses. It resulted in over 3,500 people reducing their car trips to work on a regular basis and supported an increase in the


number of people who regularly walk, cycle, car share, and use public transport to get to work. ITP Director, Neil Taylor, said:


"We relish working on projects that make a real difference to society and, literally, improve the way the world moves. The outcomes that the team and Derby City Council colleagues have delivered are testament to their hard work and the growing strength of Derby's sustainable transport offer."


Everything’s coming up roses for Paskett Public Relations


A Derby PR agency has been nominated for Best PR Campaign in the UK Agency Awards 2017, after playing an integral role in promoting a record-breaking gold medal for Hillier at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show earlier this year. Paskett Public Relations, the UK’s


largest specialist gardening and lifestyle PR agency, created the Memory Tree campaign to allow visitors to the world’s most famous flower show to become part of RHS Chelsea history. As part of the Memory Tree PR campaign, Paskett PR invited celebrities and members of the public to leave their most treasured gardening memories in a special memory book and on tags which were then hung on the tree. Gardening TV personality Alan


Titchmarsh was the first to leave his memory. Other stars included Joanna Lumley, Dame Judi Dench, Carol Klein, Anton Du Beke, Nigel Slater, Chris Evans, Matt Baker, Alex Jones, Jo Whiley, Piers Morgan, Nigel Havers and Cerys Matthews.
