CHAMBER NEWS

Chamber gets ready for annual business festival

The Chamber-sponsored Leicester Business Festival (LBF), a fortnight of business events taking place across the city and county, begins next month. The festival, headline-sponsored

by Leicester Castle Business School, runs between 23 October and 3 November. The aim of the festival is to

encourage investment and business growth across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland for the benefit of all who live, do business and work there. Founded in 2014 by the Leicester

& Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP), it places the region’s activities on a national and international platform in order to attract inward investment that will facilitate economic growth. LBF was the first of its kind to be

run in the UK and, now in its third year, is the largest of its kind. Historically it has seen great

results, with over a third of events

filling out to capacity and over 12,500 people attending last year and this year looks like no exception. Along with Leicester Castle

Business School and the Chamber, the 2017 Festival has the support of well-known business organisations including LLEP Business Gateway, the Federation of Small Businesses, Brewin Dolphin, Leicester Racecourse and IBM. Other supporters include East Midlands Trains, IOD, De Montfort University and the University of Leicester. Scott Knowles, Chair of the LBF

Steering Group and Chief Executive of the Chamber, said: “Leicester Business Festival provides a showcase for the innovative, creative and world class businesses in Leicester and Leicestershire via a programme of business events over two weeks. “East Midlands Chamber

(Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire,

‘Leicester Business Festival provides a showcase for the innovative, creative and world class businesses’

Leicestershire) is proud to be a stakeholder in the festival to ensure its members, customers and the wider business community get the opportunity to participate in this world class business festival, which is a key component in creating an environment that is conducive to good business in an ever-evolving business community.” Professor Dana Brown, Principal of Leicester Castle Business School,

added: “The Business Festival’s key aims of promoting the region and supporting the drive for economic growth is in perfect synergy with our own strategies and initiatives. “We are proud to be headline

sponsors of the Leicester Business Festival for the next three years.”
