SCHOOL COUNCIL

Members of the School Council committees have worked alongside Mrs Gray to develop a debate club. The first Matravers debate will be held in the LRC during the last week of term, the topic will be ‘Should Theresa May reinstate Grammar Schools?’

The Business and Enterprise committee aims to organise a Young enterprise challenge to build on the success of the ‘tenner’ challenge.

In addition to fundraising, the School Council Academic Committee have played a vital part in staff recruitment throughout this academic year. The committee were trained in interview techniques and have done an excellent job of representing the student voice.

The Business and Enterprise Committee organised a Read-a-thon as part of World Book day, which raised £75 to help seriously ill children. Thank you to Laura Grout and the Business and Enterprise Committee for running this event.

RESULTS OF THE ‘TENNER’ CHALLENGE

Each of the School Council committees took part in the ‘Tenner’ challenge. This challenge required each committee to be creative and innovative with fundraising ideas with the aim of making as much profit from the £10 as possible.

The total profit raised for the School Council was £71.57!

In third position, raising a total of £19.05 in profit was the Communications Committee.

In close second place raising a total of £20.02 in profit was the Business and Enterprise Committee with their ‘sweets and cake’ sale.

The winners storming ahead and raising a total of £25 profit was the Academic Committee with the ‘Matravers School Cinema’ with a viewing of ‘Fantastic Beasts and where to find them’.
