Thrive @ Matravers (continued) What to do if.... I have a health concern over the summer?

Westbury has a great Health Centre! Should you have any concerns drop in and book a time to speak to your doctor.

You can also dial 111 from any phone for free advice on health concerns, the operator will signpost you to the correct service.

If you feel there is an immediate concern or you’re at risk please dial 999. It’s not just for adults! Of course, the best advice we can give is to have an open and honest conversation with a parent or carer. Never suffer in silence!

Snapchat: Check your settings

The ever-popular Snapchat has a new feature that allows users to see the location of one another using a mobile phones GPS or internet connection!

In a world where social media is intruding further into our lives it’s important to be able to escape! Having space to think and not feel social pressures is important for the development for children. This new feature will mean that your friends will know exactly where you are all the time!

More importantly, if you’re signed up to this feature strangers can find you. Users only need to search for users nearby or search your username.

The best advice we can give is not to use Snapchat. You shouldn’t trust anything that people send you knowing it’s going to disappear! If you MUST have Snapchat then make sure if you have the most recent update you turn on “Ghost Mode”. This hides your location from users.

Please remember, should any stranger contact you over any social media report it to a trusted adult. Don’t trust profiles for correct information, most child grooming starts through social media. .
