Grant helping to get to ‘grips’ with Offshore Energy

Originally a wire working business founded in London in 1885 and moved to Norfolk in 1971, Albion Manufacturing has seen the demand for their hand made cable grips and Chinese fingers (Albi-Grips) increase in the UK and Europe over the last few years with the upsurge of activity in the offshore wind farm industry.

TRACK RECORD

Establishing a track record for quality and reliability

this small company has attracted many of the big names in offshore cable installation, such as Siemans, Prysmian, ABB, JDR, NKT and Global Marine Systems to their growing client list.

They have supplied their products to a number of wind farms including London Array, Humber Gateway, Greater Gabbard, Sheringham Shoal, Gwynt-Y-Mor, Scroby Sands as well as German, Danish and Dutch projects.

SCORE GRANT AWARD

Due to their success and innovation within the industry Albion Manufacturing has been awarded a Supply Chain Innovation for Offshore Renewable Energy (SCORE) grant. With the assistance of the grant the company is taking the opportunity to implement new branding, marketing and publicity as well as develop internal processes, new business strategies and networking opportunities.

A NICHE WITHIN A NICHE Managing Director, Martin Nix, said: “We do not have many competitors as ours is not just a niche market but in fact a niche within a niche.

“Although we stock many standard items, the added attraction with us is our proven experience and our ability to adapt and tailor make our products to meet our client’s specific requirements.

“We are however aware that we cannot afford to rest on our laurels and that there are many opportunities to be had within the expanding wind farm sector. We have been investing in our company to keep up with our expansion and the SCORE grant has greatly assisted us in being able to develop as a business.

BRIGHT FUTURE

“It appears the future is continuing to look positive for Albion Manufacturing with enquiries being received for many of the upcoming wind farms and we hope to continue to grow along with the industry.”
