020 7434 4111 | www.blue-zoo.co.uk Blue-Zoo Productions is a UK-based independent production company and rights-owner of a portfolio which includes, Olive the Ostrich and Alphablocks. Blue-Zoo won the award for Independent Production Company at the Children’s BAFTAs last year. Olive the Ostrich follows the adventures of Olive on her imaginary

travels to various places. Olive buries her head in the sand and pops up somewhere new in every episode. In each episode, animators bring to life real pictures drawn by children, creating guest characters, places and objects that Olive encounters. Blue-Zoo toured 100 schools across the UK to hold workshops where schoolchildren drew the scenes, encouraging their creativity and problem-solving skills in an imaginative way, with the children credited at the end of each episode. Nick Jr UK is currently airing the second series, and Olive the Ostrich is sold internationally by Nick International. There are 104, 5-minute episodes showing in the UK on Nick Jr and Five’s Milkshake, in the USA on PBS Sprout, and in Israel on HOP. Raydar Media will be attending BLE to represent the property for an array of product categories including art & craft, stationery, publishing and plush. The Alphablocks are 26 living letters who discover that when they hold hands and make a word it comes to life. There are 26, 3.5-minute episodes, and 65, 5-minute episodes broadcast on CBeebies.

Pearson Education produces a series of phonically decodable books, 102 Toyworld

featuring 30 new Alphablocks books, which the company sells into schools. Immediate Media launched the Alphablocks magazine in 2012. An educational children’s title aimed at pre-schoolers aged 3-5 years, Alphablocks is the only magazine that supports phonics and the way that children learn to read, showing parents how to support their child’s learning with engaging activities. The magazine encourages children and their parents to read and make words together. With sticker pages, stories, puzzles, drawing, things to make and games to play, the magazine breaks reading down into achievable, age-appropriate steps, helping to familiarise children with the 26 sounds of the alphabet. Abbey Home Media has released three DVDs, with two more to launch soon. Blue-Zoo is launching an Alphablocks app in six months, and is looking particularly into markets for Back to School and stationery, toy, activity and sticker books, annuals, interactive games, electronic games, board games and puzzles, apparel, and bedding.
