Touchingbase Toymaster feedback

For this month’s Touching Base feature we asked exhibitors at this year’s Toymaster Show how it went for them, and what the stand-out products on their stands were.

Simon Booth Thomas

Kiddimoto The show was a great success for us. It was our first year exhibiting at the show and we had no preconceptions, but the work we put in beforehand and during the show seems to have paid dividends. People who visited our stand

appreciated the designs of our products, especially the Union Jack and Pastel Dotty range of products where they can stock matching Kurve balance bikes, helmets and gloves. Our BoxKart was also well received, with many requests for further information. Members could also see the benefit of our stand selling our products where floor space is limited.

As this was our first year attending, the role was primarily about brand recognition and building it up further. We did have a number of good orders, and are looking to build on that in future years at the show. We have now managed to solidify our relationship with almost 50 Toymaster members and look forward to working with many other members in the future.

Randrupp Revell We were very

pleased with how the show went for us. Our stand was well attended and we had a solid volume of visitors to the stand. We had a good position in the hall downstairs, and the slightly cooler temperature this year was good. Star products for us this year included Revellutions, and of course the USS Enterprise

kit. Good reactions were garnered across the board. The organisation of the show is great, as is the entertainment. The show is organised for the Toymaster members and we’re privileged to be invited to attend.

Artstraws Toymaster is an important show for us. As it is every year, it was well organised, there were plenty of customers, a lot of good footfall, and the Majestic is a great venue. I really like the Marquee area, and the temperature inside was fine this time around. If I had one suggestion to make about the

organisation of the show, it would be to lower the quality of the biscuits slightly and increase the quantity. So you see, it’s only a minor piece of feedback. We’re about to relaunch Kids Kits in new packaging, clamshells, and we’ve had a good reaction to that change. We picked up a couple of new accounts and took the opportunity to demonstrate our full range.

John Adams This year’s show was the best we’ve ever done, and I would have said that just after one day. We’ve been overwhelmed by the support shown to us and our products by the members. Key products for us at this show

were HolograFX, Mega Construction and Silly Moo, the follow-up game to last year’s Doggie Doo. We had an

excellent stand position this year, and found that footfall was strong. We got a lot of attention towards the beginning of the first morning and it remained solid for the rest of the show.

Allan DKL I love the Toymaster

show, we take more orders here than at any other. Toymaster members are looking for price and value for money, and we like to support the independents. The atmosphere here in Harrogate is always buzzing, it’s always extremely well organised and we make a lot of forward orders. Hama received a lot of attention this year. People were literally coming onto the stand

to ask “What’s new with Hama?”. The free-standing display unit got a lot of attention and Pocket Hama has received positive reactions across the board. The Mini Land educational products also gained good interest, and I think that’s because it’s good on price and parents are always on the lookout for educational toys. I have to say that educational toys are becoming one of the biggest growth areas.
