ITVS GE appoints Vivid as Master Toy for Thunderbirds are Go!


ITV Studios Global Entertainment has appointed Vivid as its master toy partner in Europe, Australia and New Zealand for Thunderbirds are Go!, the major new children’s television series co-produced by ITV Studios and Pukeko Pictures in association with Weta Workshop, which is set to premiere in 2015. Vivid will produce a range of Thunderbirds are Go! toys, including fi gurines and vehicles; playsets; die-cast models; role-play and dress up toys; construction toys; board games and puzzles. The products will launch in the UK in 2015 to coincide with the premiere of the new series, 50 years after its fi rst television debut. The products will then roll out to international markets.


BHS and Lakeland join BLE Retail Mentoring Programme


Boots, John Lewis, New Look, J Sainsbury and Tesco will all be participating in the Retail Mentoring Programme at Brand Licensing Europe 2013, with BHS and Lakeland taking part for the fi rst time. BLE event director Darren Brechin said retailers have


been very responsive to the programme this year. During the next six months nominated retailers will take part in workshops and seminars, including the LIMA Licensing Essentials Course and Spring Fling in May in partnership with LIMA UK. They will shadow a licensor and this year there is the chance for retailers to host licensors in return. The programme culminates in the buyers’ attendance at Brand Licensing Europe in October.


Shaun the Sheep fi lm set for 2015


StudioCanal is fi nancing and will distribute the fi lm in the UK, France, Germany, Australia and New Zealand. The fi lm will be written and directed by Richard Starzak and Mark Burton. The fi lm’s story will see Shaun’s mischief lead to the farmer leaving the farm, making Shaun, Bitzer and the fl ock go into the big city to rescue him. David Sproxton, executive chairman and co-founder of


Aardman, said: “Shaun and his friends have a massive global following. We are very excited about being able to put them into a bigger adventure for the big screen.”


Bulldog announces Character for Plants vs Zombies


Bulldog Licensing has announced that Character Options has joined the growing list of licensees as a toy partner. Distributing the range of product from Jazwares, the new deal will see Character providing a wide range of plastic and plush toys. Demand for the brand is high across the UK, with leading


retailers looking to support a wide range of product including the toy lines, bedding from Character World, publishing from Penguin and game accessories from A4T. A number of new announcements will be made soon across multiple product categories. Cross-category product sales are strong in the US right across


major retailers and across a wide demographic, with the core support coming from boys aged six plus.


Bin Weevils launches Bin Tunes competition


BinWeevils.com has partnered with Aardman Animations and Sony Music to fi nd the best pop video animator in the UK. The competition will offer, as


fi rst prize, the chance for four children to create the offi cial pop video for the Bin Weevils debut album, Bin Tunes, released by Sony Music on 29th July. The winners will visit the Aardman Animations in Bristol, where they will work with a professional director to create a unique pop video, which will be seen by up to two million children on BinWeevils.com. Entrants are invited to submit a short pop video clip, featuring Bin Weevils characters, using the Animate It software which was created by Kudlian Software in association with Aardman Animations.


Nickelodeon orders more Tickety Toc


Zodiak Kids has signed with Nickelodeon for a second season of the pre-school series. The series will broadcast on Nickelodeon channels around the world, including Nick Jr in the US and UK. Nickelodeon has picked up 26 x 11-minute episodes of Tickety Toc, bringing the total number of episodes available to 78 x 11 minutes, as well as three 30-minute specials. Zodiak Kids has now secured a number of deals for the 52 x 11-minute series with broadcasters around the world including the UK’s Channel 5 for its Milkshake slot where it launched in November 2012. New Tickety Toc episodes will debut on Milkshake in May. Other free-to-air broadcasters include TG4 (Ireland), France 5, Disney Junior (Canada), Network 10 (Australia), NRK Super (Norway), YLE (Finland), PTS (Taiwan), ATV (Turkey), Pixel (Ukraine) and Pop TV (Slovenia).
