Alyss Toys has been granted the exclusive distributorship of mic-o-mic, developed and manufactured by German-based Schaefer Toys. The mic-o-mic concept is not new to the UK market, but the packaging has been entirely redesigned to refl ect the quality of the brand. The UK mic-o-mic range will launch this month. The mic-o-mic range will sit alongside brands such as Plastwood Magnetic Construction, Bilibo, Quercetti, Safari, Plasmacar and The Orb Factory Sticky Mosaics. An educational designer toy, targeting the individual abilities and skills of children, each mic-o-mic kit comprises individual textured parts which are connected by pins and clips to create colourful models including helicopters and sailing ships.


University Games unveils new website


University Games has announced the launch of its new website, www. university-games.co.uk. The site refl ects the company’s expanding range of games and includes improved features for retailers and consumers. New features include a downloadable catalogue, full product information with game rules, enquiries link, stockist details, TV adverts and videos, news and reviews section and a live Twitter feed.

Character Group’s international sales up 25%


The Character Group has reported that its international sales rose 25% in the six months ending February 28th, 2013. In a statement, the group indicated that trading performance was impacted by the tough retail environment and consumer confi dence. Highlights from the full report are presented below: • Revenue £30.59 million (2012: £44.25m) – International sales (excluding Eire) up to 25%


• Gross profi t £8.24 million (2012: £16.48m) • • •


EBITDA £0.47 million (2012: £8.03m) Loss before tax £1.91 million (2012: Profi t £5.57m)


Earnings per share – loss of 6.59 pence (2012: earnings 19.34p) • Half-year dividend 3.30p (2012: 3.30p).

Steve Murphy was presented with a £12,000 pear-shaped IGI certifi ed diamond at Jumbo’s UK offi ce on Friday 19th April 2013. To celebrate the 15th Anniversary


of Wasgij, Jumbo Games offered the chance for six people to win a diamond with a combined estimated retail value of over £45,000. The promotion ran inside the Wasgij Destiny 15th Anniversary Puzzle. As well as the main prize of an IGI certifi ed diamond valued at £12,000, fi ve runners-up received a round cut IGI certifi ed diamond, each with an estimated retail value each of £7,000. DKL announces return of Wonderworld’s Tree Plus Project


DKL will be hosting a social media campaign asking people to like, tweet, or share; and for every one of these actions Wonderworld will plant a tree. The campaign will be spread across all of DKL and Wonderworld’s social networks that will receive constant updates of the project to create consumer awareness. In 2012 Wonderworld planted 17,200 new trees in the Thai Forest with
