Attendance: Three years full-time or four to six years part-time.
Entry requirements: In addition to general entry requirements, applicants are expected to demonstrate a standard of written English and Mathematics equivalent to a GCSE grade C. A typical offer would be between 260- 300 UCAS tariff points. Applicants must demonstrate their commitment to Early Childhood Studies by having undertaken prior experience of working with children under the age of eight. Applicants will need to attend an interview. CRB checks are undertaken.
This course focuses on the development of young children (birth-eight years old) and provides a foundation for a variety of careers working with children and families. Students gain understanding of the professional issues underpinning work with young children and benefit from specialist input around areas such as special educational needs and cultural diversity.
The course is taught by staff with experience across education, health and social care. There are opportunities to undertake placements and fieldwork in educational and care settings plus an optional European visit.

UCAS description: Location: Park Campus
Attendance: Part-time only – one day attendance per week or two years to complete course.
Entry requirements: A Foundation Degree in Early Years or a relevant equivalent award at Foundation Degree/ HND/ Dip.HE level. 240 HE points of which a minimum of 120 must be at level 5. Recent or current experience of working with children under the age of eight. CRB checks are undertaken.
The course is designed to allow progression from a Foundation Degree or HND to an honours degree. Students strengthen their knowledge of young children’s holistic development and have opportunities to undertake placements and fieldwork in educational settings.

Early Years Education (QTS) BA (Hons)
UCAS code: X101 UCAS description: BA/EYEQTS Location: Park Campus Attendance: Three years full-time.
Entry requirements: In addition to standard entry requirements, applicants must have GCSE grade C (a higher grade is preferable) in English Language, Mathematics and Science on application. A typical offer would be between 280- 320 UCAS tariff points; however applications are welcomed with non-standard qualifications and we are committed to widening participation and undertake positive action to support applicants from under-represented groups.
Applicants must have prior experience in a UK maintained Early Years context. Successful applicants have to attend an interview. CRB checks are undertaken. We also welcome access course applicants.

The course supports teacher trainees in developing the skills, knowledge and understanding required to teach three-to-seven-year-olds. All study is closely linked with practice-based work with a variety of placements available. On successful completion, graduates are recommended for and awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
