Self service application Access courses for entry

Many students enter Higher Education through an Access to HE Diploma. These diploma courses are designed for those who lack formal qualifi cations and want to prepare for study in Higher Education. Any Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) recognised access course will normally be accepted as a basis for a valid application.

Associate Student entry

Alternatively, even if you have no formal qualifi cations, many programmes will allow you to begin your studies as an Associate Student with one or two modules, and on successful completion you may progress to a full programme of study. For advice and guidance on entry routes, fi nance and preparations for further study telephone 0800 358 2232.

Prior learning and experience for entry

We believe that formal achievements of specifi c qualifi cations are only one possible measure of students’ ability to study at university level. Applications may be considered on the basis of a holistic assessment of your skills, aptitudes and abilities. Evidence may be presented covering the certifi cation of work–based learning and professional or other relevant experience of learning.

Entry requirements for international students

The University of Northampton accepts qualifi cations from countries other than the UK for entry onto its courses. Advice on the equivalence of a qualifi cation, its appropriateness to a given course and any grade requirements will be given on request. Students for whom English is not their fi rst language also need to be profi cient in written and spoken English. Visit www.northampton.ac.uk/international for further information.

Exemptions on the basis of Accreditation of Prior Certifi ed and/or Experiential Learning

It is possible to gain exemption from studying certain parts or certain years of a course if you have qualifi cations at a higher level in addition to basic entry requirements or have achieved the learning associated with the course through experience.
