UCAS description:


Location: Park Campus and off-site venues including Beauchamp College, Oadby and University Centre Milton Keynes.


Attendance: Full-time. Modules are taught on one day per week over two years, with linked experiential learning in the participant’s workplace.


Entry requirements: Participants must demonstrate the ability to undertake intermediate degree level study, through prior qualifications at NVQ level 3 or equivalent. Appropriate levels of numeracy and literacy are required to support learners in schools and usually a minimum of two years’ experience working as a teaching assistant.


Applicants require a positive employer’s reference, from the headteacher (or equivalent) stating their support for study during term-time.


The Foundation Degree in Learning and Teaching (FDLT) is designed for teaching assistants who are currently working in schools and who wish to gain a recognised qualification specific to their role.

Locations: University Centre Milton Keynes, Park Campus, Beauchamp College, Leicester


Attendance: Attendance is one day a week with additional home study. This course can be studied either full or part- time. The full-time course is over one academic year and requires 1,200 hours of study. The part-time course is over two years.


Entry requirements: Completion of a Foundation Degree in Teaching and Learning or equivalent, amounting to 240 Credit Accumulation Transfer Scheme (CATS) points. Recent or current experience in a school or other educational establishment.


This course is a level 6 course designed to follow on from a Foundation Degree for Teaching Assistants. Students examine issues and debates surrounding education and on successful completion can apply to Qualified Teacher Status programmes, or undertake careers such as learning mentors.
