No developer is required. Developed for sheetfed and web presses, the :Amigo TS works on most 830nm thermal platesetters and accom- modates fluctuations in laser energy and processing variations with virtu- ally no effect on image quality. Plate processing is simple and clean. The faster :Amigo TS has improved image contrast with a run length of up to 200,000 plus impressions without post baking; it can also be baked for even longer runs. The increased speed gives users the ability to produce more plates per hour, resulting in increased productivity. With a longer bath life, the new plate requires less maintenance. This makes :Amigo TS more envi- ronmentally-friendly than most plates, as waste generation is considerably reduced. It is also more productive as all processing variables are eliminated.

Ink Management System
Pamarco Global Graphics (Booth 1669) is introducing its new Senti- nel iPro ink management system. It is designed as an electronically-con- trolled, automated cartridge-based ink dispensing system with the capabilities to track and report ink usage. Incor- porating a new direct beam ultrasonic sensor, the Sentinel iPro features high- ly sensitive directional capabilities. This technology delivers processor- controlled, multi-functional resources. Aqueous-Based White Ink Proofing
Presstek (Booth 2600) is showcas- ing the Presstek DPM Pro 400, a fully automated, high resolution polyester plate CTP system. It is designed for use with small-format presses and supports plate widths up to 16.31" (414mm). Featuring an advanced internal plate processor, it offers automation, speed, and a low cost of operation. Digital platemaking with a DPM Pro 400 makes it possible to handle more jobs with increased efficiency and preci- sion. There are no intermediate steps required, so process variables in plate- making are significantly reduced. The DPM Pro 400 requires little time to produce press-ready plates. Simply load the MEGAPRO material and the system operates with a minimum of operator intervention. Two-knife Trimmer Agfa Graphics (Booths 844, 2611)
is debuting :Apogee Impose, the new rules-based imposition module that is part of the :Apogee 7 workflow management software suite. Instead of using pre-defined templates that must be manually edited for each job, :Apo- gee Impose software uses all job infor- mation from :Apogee 7: number of colors, page size, product part informa- tion such as cover, body and insert; and available equipment (prepress, press, and bindery) to calculate and propose the imposition scheme.
:Apogee Impose bases its calculation on actual job composition. A set of pro- duction rules results in the same imposi- tion scheme each time they are applied. Any number of rules can be defined, altered and applied for custom jobs.
Epson America Inc. (Booth 617) is
debuting a contract-quality proofing sys- tem designed to improve how package designers and flexographic and gravure printing professionals produce packag- ing mock-ups and proofs. The Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 uses aqueous-based white ink printing technology and Epson UltraChrome HDR White Ink. The White Ink introduces Organic Hollow Resin Particle Technology, which forces light to randomly scatter, producing the illusion of seeing the color white. This approach to producing the color white results in an extremely high white ink density, as well as the ability for cus- tom white color toning, reports Epson. It also provides professional short-term color stability for mission-critical color proofing on a range of new substrates
Wide-format Flatbed Printer
Duplo USA Corporation (Booth 2617) is demonstrating its new DKT- 200 two-knife trimmer configured with a System 5000 collating and booklet- making system. The fully automatic DKT-200 allows for in-line production of high-quality, full-bleed booklets. Its two blades remove the head and foot of completed books, eliminating the need for a separate guillotine cutter station. Production can be further increased with the optional gutter cutter module producing up to 9,000 books per hour.
Two-directional Slit and Score
Rollem (Booth 624) is demonstrating
two-directional systems, including the mid-level ETR system with its Interleaf strike capability. The unit has the abil- ity to program perforations on different pages, such as multiple page invoices, with the last page requiring a tear-off remittance. Key to the ETR is the ability to slit and score on all types of digitally printed materials, independent of the press method.
EFI (Booth 2000) is demonstrating the EFI Rastek T1000 wide-format flatbed printer, combining high-speed and high-definition for best-in-class image quality and price performance. It is capable of generating sharp text and photographic image quality using 4-color-plus-white UV-curable inks. It prints in CMYK at speeds up to 400 sq. ft./hour and resolution up to1200x900 dpi, and experiences minimal reduc- tion in speed when using white ink for
