technologies were honored and 101 Best of Category Awards were given at the
advancement of techniques and pro- cesses used in the graphic arts. These

InterTech Star, a symbol of tech- nological innovation and excellence. Three winning firms are exhibiting at GRAPH EXPO and are showing the technology that has been judged as truly innovative and expected to have a major impact on the graphic com- munications industry. The 2010 InterTech Technology
Award recipients are listed alphabeti- cally, by company, with the technol- ogy named first and a brief descrip- tion following. GRAPH EXPO booth numbers are listed if available. Eastman Kodak Company (Booth
1227) received two InterTech awards. Its Kodak DIGICAP NX screening addresses the issue of ink transfer efficiency in flexographic printing. The screening software applies a micro surface texturization pattern to the surface of all elements on the Kodak FLEXCEL NX Digital Flexo- graphic Plate. The result: the tech- nology allows for gravure-quality printing to be done on a flexographic press. Kodak’s
second award is for its Kodak PROSPER S10 Imprinting sys-
tem, which offers the combination of image quality and high productiv- ity for personalizing direct mail and transactional documents. The Kodak PROSPER S10 Imprinting system, with its innovative head design, opens the door to 600x600 dpi resolution, at 1,000 fpm, on a variety of commodity, matte, and gloss-coated stocks. FUJIFILM North America, Graph- ic Systems Division (Booth 1469, 627) was honored for its ZAC auto- mated controller software technology,
which offers a high level of control over plate processing. On a con- tinual basis, the ZAC references an algorithm to determine if the pro- cessed area per elapsed period of time requires a replenishment cycle. If replenishment is required, the ZAC adds only the proper amount of replenishment that corresponds to the processor activity to keep the system in control.
Printing Research, Inc. (Booth 1661) was selected for its SUPER BLUE 3, a transfer cylinder blanket made up of polymer-based threads that provides an unprecedented amount of impressions without marking and the need for cleaning. Judges honored this technology because of its extraor- dinary endurance and the ability to update older presses. Heidelberg USA won an InterTech
award for its Prinect Inspection Con- trol, an integrated in-line defect detec- tion system, available for the Speed- master CD 102, CX 102, and XL 105. HIFLEX Corporation of North America (Booth 463) was awarded an InterTech award for its HIFLEX Web- shop Web2Print System that utilizes the power of the open source Drupal content management system.
