Color Management Pantone (Booth 448) is displaying its
new Pantone Plus Series color commu- nication software. A host of new fea- tures, colors, and digital tools, includ- ing chromatic arrangement of colors for more intuitive selection, an expand- ed palette of spot colors, metallics and a broader range of neons, are included. Every Pantone Plus Series purchase includes Pantone Color Manager soft- ware, which allows users to update soft- ware with Plus Color Libraries. Users can also convert spot colors to CMYK simulations with loaded ICC profiles. Guides in the Plus Series include a ColorChecker Lighting Indicator that shows whether current lighting condi- tions are suitable for color evaluation.
Double-width Web Press
Goss International (Booth 1237) is introducing a Universal XL press avail- able in a 4x2 format. The double-width presses complement the single-width Universal
and higher-performance
Uniliner 4x1 and 4x2 presses within the Goss portfolio. The new model can produce up to 75,000 copies per hour and is available in web widths of up to 1220 millimeters (48 inches). Goss Uniliner presses operate at higher speeds and are available in web widths of up to 1900 millimeters (75"). The Universal XL presses are based on the Universal press platform and also incorporate technologies and design elements found in Uniliner presses. The press can be installed in single- or double-former configurations. A Goss 2:3:3 folder can be equipped with a quarterfold option, extending the application range to magazine- size newspaper supplements and semi- commercial products. The new press can be configured for coldset, heatset, UV, or combined production, and the reelstands can be positioned under the towers or at right angles to the press in the Goss T90 arrangement.
Digital Book Manufacturing
book manufacturing system, for pro- ducing books using various styles of book blocks (cut sheet and signatures). The Scalable SigmaLine technology consists of a 1,000 cycles-per-hour system featuring the SigmaBinder, a 4-clamp perfect binder with a measur- ing station that uses lasers to capture the dimensions of the incoming book block. These measurements are used to automatically set the binder’s length, width and thickness dimensions in real time. The book is then transferred to the SigmaTower to cool and cure the adhesive prior to trimming. From there, the book moves directly into the Sig- maTrimmer where three independently driven knife elements trim books with- out makeready. There is no changing of pressing pads or cartridges.
Computer-to-plate
outdoor. It is available in thicknesses of .015", .020", and .030", widths of 24" and 42", standard roll lengths of 10 ft. and 25 ft. and can be cut, slit or die cut for customized widths and lengths.
Commerical Web Press
The K-115 CL GW offers rapid knife change procedures and an encoder for back guage fine-tuning. The K-115 cut- ters have a Leuze light barrier and mul- tiple safety features, including a self- checking multiprocessing Pilz safety module. It is CIP4-compatible, fully programmable with a 15" color touch- screen control, and cutting animation display. It is CE- and TUV-certified.
Wide-format Inkjet Printer
Kimoto Tech (Booth 133) is featur- ing a new computer-to-plate system, the Kimosetter 525, a UV inkjet imag- ing device that is capable of producing plates up to 18x20". The output is targeted at longer run printing, with run lengths over 25,000, up to 150lpi for fine halftone work. The Kimosetter 525, offering 4-color capability, was designed to meet the needs of printers in the 2-up market segment that are producing a mixture of spot color and four-color work on a daily basis.
Flexible Magnetic Vinyl Material
KBA North America (Booth 1255) is promoting its new 16-page C16 web press for high-net output, fast job changes, low levels of start-up waste, enhanced production flexibility and reduced energy and maintenance. The KBA C16 (C stands for commercial) will be offered in two performance classes: 55,000 and 65,000cph. Key innovations and features include: fast plate changes (less than 60 seconds irrespective of the num- ber of plates); KBA’s unique Rol- lerTronic rollers locks for a longer service life and reduced maintenance; a new, automatically convertible P3 folder with just one quarterfold up to 65,000cph and unique automated copy control; dedicated AC drives for each printing couple and other features for enhancing energy efficiency; flying job change with proven imprinter tech- nology; optimized KBA EasyTronic software for fast, low-waste start-up and run-down at the touch of a button; automatic presetting, job management and optional JDF process integration via KBA LogoTronic Professional; user-friendly handling and optimum access to all subassemblies and feed systems; and networking technology. The C16 is fed with paper by KBA’s
Patras reel-logistics system with cus- tom-configurable automation, and reelstands engineered for
the maxi-
mum reel diameter and production speed specifications.
