Christel and Ellie

Starry-eyed

Ellie Goulding’s been touted as the one to watch as the next big thing in girly pop, and when you’ve got that kind of hype to live up to, having a killer do is a must. Which is why Ellie’s been popping into HOB Salons, Camden. She’s already had her hair cut by Akin so it was time to get a new colour, courtesy of our fave colour star Christel Lundqvist. Claire Dawson was also on hand to give Ellie a style fi t for a chart-topper. Christel said: “As seen on the catwalk, soft pastel tones are right on trend for the coming months so to complement the blonde, we created a pale rosewater hue which suits her delicate complexion and brown eyes.” We like!

Flower power is back people. The original – and in our humble opinion best – musical Hair has returned to the West End with a bang. Or should we say lots of them! Following its debut in London circa 1968, there was public outcry at the nudity and naughtiness of a gang of hippie hippie shake kids fl outing the rules, smoking le ganja, promoting ‘free love’ and burning their Vietnam draft cards. But fast forward 42 years and audiences at the Gielgud Theatre simply couldn’t get enough of this straight off Broadway, Tony-winning remake. Along with the slap-stick humour, audience interaction (ooh-er…) and renditions of the show’s now iconic classics such as Let The Sun Shine In, Good Morning Star Shine and, of course, Hair were also some standout performances. Will Swenson’s Berger was suitably swoonworthy, Sasha Allen oozed star appeal with her fi erce portrayal of Dione and Gavin Creel both entertained and moved us with his performance as tragic Claude. And with those clever chaps over at Batiste behind the infamous hair of Hair we suggest you book yourselves a ticket, pronto! hairthemusical.co.uk

The future of fashion? Oh Henry!

When fashion meets technology the results are guaranteed to be innovative and exciting, which is exactly the choice of words to describe Amy Thompson’s work. Working with sculptural materials such as polypropylene, Amy manipulates shapes that encase the body like pieces of armour, underneath which the wearer is covered in cyber prints that dazzle and confuse the eye. Seen here, and on our cover, are some of this concept-driven designer’s pieces that were recently on show at Paris Fashion Week, teamed with the equally beautiful work of designer duo Talbot Runhof. Oh and she’s already dressed the super hot Fergie of the Black Eyed Peas for the band’s E.N.D

world tour! You read it here fi rst…

LET THE SUN SHINE IN…

Henry Holland’s at it again. Not content with pleasing the fun fashionistas within us all, he’s now brought out a brilliantly affordable range, exclusively for Debenhams. Adding to the department store’s roster of designer collections, H! by Henry Holland has chosen IT girl of the moment, Pixie Geldof, as the face of the range, which is aimed at a younger audience. As one of Henry’s friends – we spotted her front row at his spring summer London Fashion Week show – we

reckon Pixie’s just perfect for H!
