A FIRST FOR GHD

Styling super-brand ghd has named the über-stylish members of its first-ever art team after a gruelling two days’ worth of auditions. British Hairdresser of the Year Akin

Konizi hosted the event at the HOB Academy in Camden, London. The eight crowned winners fought off

hundreds of styling hopefuls and will now spend the next 12 months on a number of exciting ghd projects including a nationwide tour, photoshoots, presentations in the UK and overseas – plus the chance to work backstage at London Fashion Week. Akin says: “Considering it is such a

daunting process there was some great talent on show.”

HABB HITS NEWHEIGHTS

High-flying hairdressers, technicians and industry members took to the sky to jump out of a plane at 10,000 feet – all in the name of a good cause. The Hair and Beauty Benevolent raised

over £3,000 in the hugely successful skydive event. Fifteen brave flyers were forced to endure 20 minutes of waiting as the plane rose to the set height, before jumping out in tandem and reaching speeds of 120mph for up to five minutes! The jumpers were from Habia,

Jo Hansford, Sean Hanna, and Wella Professionals.

It wasn’t an easy task though. “Not only were we looking for great technical hairdressing, but also superb presentation skills and a new directional take on the ghd brand that will help to push it forward, so the guys we chose had to be pretty exceptional.”

They’re not the only newbies. Akin was recently appointed global brand ambassador while Martin Eaton took on the role of Managing Director for ghd UK and Ireland.
