NEWS Northern Shooting Show
delivers quality audience The fourth Northern Shooting Show took place at the Yorkshire Event Centre, part of the huge Great Yorkshire Showground site in Harrogate on 11th and 12th May.
S
ince inception the Northern Shooting Show has steadily
grown and is an important event in the shooting calendar. This year saw the biggest show yet in terms of exhibitor numbers and volume of exhibition space. A number of new exhibitors joined the event this year including Edgar Brothers and Leica who both gave favourable feedback on their attendance. The show also shrugged off the traffi c issues that marred the event last year – with traffi c fl owing smoothly over the two days. One of the show organisers, Paul Whitelam said: “Whilst the advent of social media means new products come out to the public very quickly, the event is perfectly placed in the calendar for attendees to benefi t from further product exposure for anything launched at IWA by using it as a UK launch platform putting the products into the hands of a huge number of shooters over the two days.”
Exhibitors were greeted by buoyant visitors and reports are that business was good. Mike Hurney, chairman of The Shooting Party, told T&G: “Sales have been good at this years event. While the average sale was maybe down a little in price, there has been a greater volume. If only we had a crystal ball to tell us what stock to bring!” The ‘experience’ aspect of the show was a great success with visitors able to test out shotguns from most of the major manufacturers on the huge 500m clayline built for the event, run by Mark Lawson, owner of the award winning Hazel Bank Shooting Ground. The cartridges were sponsored by NSI Nobel Sport Italia and Ruag Ammotec the distributors report huge interest and healthy orders for them since signing up to the show. Visitors were also able to test out optics products from a number of manufacturers including Leupold, Vortex and Zeiss on specially located

viewing areas that allowed them to be tested out to over 1000m across the beautiful valley the event is located in. The airgun ranges and .22 mini rifl e range on site also allowed hands on testing of a great number of products. Richard Stokoe, owner of the NSS, said: “Not only does the site benefi t from the state of the art exhibition halls but there are also large outside areas giving a real relaxed ‘game fair’ feel to the event, that ensured visitors made a full day of attending, with lots of interesting talks and demonstrations throughout the weekend. “This is an event that’s set to keep
