Exclusive new product launch
designed to deliver Japanese tackle giant Shimano is unveiling its key new products at a special invitation only event in June. The event is open to all UK and Ireland Shimano dealers.
T
he launch event will allow UK dealers to be the fi rst in Europe to see the new Shimano products, claimed to be some of the most exciting developments for many years, and will also enable Shimano to unveil a new sales and marketing structure designed to bring parity to all. Gary Lee, Shimano UK’s managing
director, has been at the helm of the company for two years. During this time he has seen fi rst-hand how the angling market works, and the challenges it has to overcome. The show comes on the back of last years highly successful launch of the Ultegra 14000 XTD big pit reel. “The Ultegra XTD launched last year went on to become a huge success, but it wasn’t without its problems and we are reacting accordingly,” explained Gary. “There were issues and we’ve listened to the trade and have a plan to prevent a similar situation
arising. Many dealers didn’t forward order the product because they hadn’t seen a sample, then when they did see the product there were so many back orders supply was restricted. We managed the situation as best we could and spoke with the dealers, but I can understand their frustrations. We’re determined it will not happen again and this year’s product launch will go a long way to ensuring the situation isn’t repeated.” Gary is keen to present Shimano as a company that’s fair and equitable and will continue to trade in that manner. “All we can do is listen, learn and move forward.” He continues: “We understand dealer frustration and are making changes to how we are going to do things in the future. As well as unveiling new products at the show, we will be launching our new commercial terms, which we will explain on a one to one basis with our dealers.”

All attendees at the show will be asked to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement. No photography will be allowed. The event takes place at the Nottinghamshire Golf & Country Club, 5th-9th June.
