lmost 15 years ago, a confident Italian angler headed to the United States to become the first Italian to compete in the
B.A.S.S.National
Championship. This dreamer had already won everything there was to win in his home country and acrossmuch of Europe and went to the USA believing in his abilities. During a practice day, he chanced uponmeeting a fellow competitor as they both pre-fished the waters to get the best advantage they could. This young American caught the Italian’s eye thanks to his persistence, accuracy and different way of thinking. The two anglers whomet that day would
later become intertwined oncemore – one went on to win the Bassmaster Classic in 2003, the other created international lure brandMolix. It seemed inevitable thatMike ‘Ike’ Iaconelli and Stefano Sammarachi were destined to reunite in the future. That secondmeeting did not occur until the
2009 edition of American trade show ICAST, when the pair decided to work together to create a new breed of fishing
lures. That branch of lures would become known as theMolix Lover – created through a shared love and passion of bass fishing fromtwo like-minded anglers fromdifferent corners of the globe. The first lure was the Lover Special Vibration
Jig, an innovative bait able to produce incredible vibrations thanks to its unique reverse lip and the high-quality ABS special-gradematerials used tomake the
body.Molix released different
versions of this lure – with treble hooks or single hook, rattling or silent, and with different weights. Then came the Lover Buzz, with its compact
and inline shape giving it precision even in complicated conditions such as strong winds, and effectiveness both in open water and areas of heavy
cover. The SS versions (super squeaky) have the characteristic of having the blade that slides on a special rivet made of knurled brass, which emits a particular sound that is very attractive to the fish, even froma great distance. One of themore recent incarnations is the

during the retrieve and it is effective even when you use it as a drop bait. Itmaintains an optimal arrangement retrieved in different ways – slow, fast or with the ‘change direction’ style of Mike Iaconelli.
After the development
and the large-scale commercialisation of the previous lure, it was time for this unique partnership to create something different, something that could offer new fishing
opportunities. Thus began the design of a
spoon, the Lover Spoon. Mike Iaconelli strongly inspired the
realisation of this large lure for big predators. The Lover Spoon can reach great distances and is characterised by a flickering sinking, very wide and irregular thanks to the specific
curvature.Themovement during the retrieve makes it a powerful eye-catcher due to the reflections emanating fromthe largemetal surface. Other important characteristics where the design ofMolix is best expressed are the ‘fish skin’ body and realistic colours. The partnership shows no signs of slowing
down, according to Stefano: “The future? The future is filled with new ideas and new projects, while continuing to state the characteristics of the Lover style byMolix and ‘Ike’.”
Mike Iaconelli’s (pictured) partnership withMolix owner Stefano Sammarachi has reaped rewards.
