UK’S GO OUTDOORS CHAIN SOLD
UK retail chain GO Outdoors, which sells a substantial amount of fishing tackle, has been sold to general sports retail group JD Sports. The buyout is estimated to
be worth £112million and will see GO Outdoors co-founders Paul Caplan and John Graham leave the business. With 58 stores across the
UK and plans already under way to expand into Europe, GO Outdoors represents a neat addition to the JD Sports Group’s outdoor stable,
which already includes Blacks,Millets and Ultimate Outdoors. JD Sports’ chief executive,
Peter Cowgill, said: “GO Outdoors is a great addition to our existing outdoor business. “Theminimal overlap in
store locations and their out-of-town, one-stop-retailer approach complements the work we have done on the high street with Blacks and Millets. I amexcited by the future prospects this holds for the JD group.”
