ODOUR AND DUST

David Hearne set to bring vast experience to LDH Attachments

LDH Attachments turned seven years old in April 2017, and to celebrate the company recruited a well-known plant expert in the demolition and waste industry, David Hearne.

David started as an apprentice at Wallis & Stevens of Basingstoke in 1978, manufacturing Road Rollers, before moving to Ipswich with the business when it was taken over by BSP in 1980.

He joined Hitachi in 1984, climbing the ladder as the company grew, becoming Director in 1997, and eventually being part of the MBO team in 1999.

David said: “I had a great career with Hitachi. We built the brand from the ground up and met some great customers along the way.”

In 2016, he decided it was time for someone else to take over the reins. He added: “It was a big decision, we had built a great team in the South East and a very loyal Hitachi customer base. However I knew the time was right to step out of the business.”

Meanwhile LDH Attachments, founded by David’s wife Lesley and daughter Eleanor, 25, had steadily grown into an organisation with large new premises, and a reputation for reliability and service. The temptation was too great and David was welcomed into the family business.

LDH is the UK distributor for Dehaco, a Dutch manufacturer and distributer of demolition attachments, primarily selector

grabs, hydraulic breakers and portable dust suppression units.

In 2016 LDH became UK distributor for another family business Hydraulika Petras, trading throughout Europe for 25 years and whose faultless scrap grab remains their core product. Most recently LDH is proud to have secured the dealership of Japanese company Okada Corporation. Okada’s exceptionally fast pulveriser is the newest addition to LDH’s handpicked products which have been well received by core customers. The combined pulveriser-magnet version in particular, has received overwhelming interest.

David concluded: “Our focus is to supply high quality equipment to the demolition and waste industries.” www.ldhattachments.co.uk
