with her third she is out of an EX94 Shottle dam. She has been honourable mention for the past two years in the All Britain Awards and stood in the top three at every National show she has competed at. The Linda family go back to a VG86 classified Vanguard daughter purchased at a sale that Weeton and Bilsrow held 20 years ago. She bred two Excellent daughters, an EX90- 2E Renown Factor daughter and a Boulet Charles classified EX92-2E, which the family has branched from. Atwood Linda has a 2015-born McCutchen heifer which is in-calf to sexed Bankroll.


Mahala and Gloriette are the back bone of the herd, both have established big families, consistently producing daughters with the whole package.

According to David one of the best heifers he has ever bred is Wormanby Destry Olga 52 VG87 which stood third senior two year old at UK Dairy Expo 2016. “Olga isn’t like most show cows who usually come with a deep, marketable pedigree, but at the moment she is the best heifer we have ever bred at Wormanby, despite having two other heifers that stood in the top three at the show.” She is joined in the pick of heifers by Wormanby Atwood Mahala VG88 who is the 10th generation VG or EX and stood second milking yearling at UK Dairy Expo, she was also a contender for the European Championships. The herd has been


predominately closed for many years, despite the occasional calf that has been purchased and one of the best recent investments has been Feizor Knowledge S Melody 3 which was purchased in partnership


with Stephen and Ann Morley. Having been their pick in the sale Black and White Sale she has since graced the show ring, regularly finishing in the top three and also being awarded best udder in the show at UK Dairy Expo 2016 and is classified EX93 with an EX96 mammary.


She has a Doorman heifer ready to serve and a heifer calf by Mincio. She is being aimed at the European Championships in Colmar and then UK Dairy Day before going on flush. David individually mates each cow to a sire he believes will compliment her strengths and weaknesses using the best bulls he can afford to produce a marketable heifer calf. “I look for the whole package just like heifers, I want a bull with pedigree, genomics, production and health traits. The biggest challenge now is finding something different with Shottle appearing in most pedigrees. “The first Holstein bull we used was Warden and he put a lot of
