Debi Nimz Dress for Success P eople today don’t often realize the difference

their appearance makes. Cut-offs and T-shirts may seem to be the norm, but for Debi Nimz her professional dress made a great first impression that changed her life.

Debi worked in the banking industry in Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. In June 2004, the bank where she worked for eight years was sold to new owners. She was assured that her job would be safe, but as you can guess–on the day the new owners took over–130 people were laid off, and Debi was one of them.

“I had been working in the banking industry for 25 years, so I was devastated when I received a police escort out of the building that day,” Debi said. “That was the worst day of my career. However, in another way, it was the best day of my career.”

As part of her severance package, Debi was offered a résumé writing and interview seminar by Express Employment Professionals. “What was amazing to me was that out of the 130 people offered this opportunity, only six showed up,” Debi said. “Also, one of the things that made me stand out was that I was the only one who dressed professionally to attend the seminar.”

After the seminar, Cindy Fairchild, who managed the Oklahoma City Express office, approached Debi and told her she might have a job for her. She had Debi drive straight from the seminar to the Express office to apply for the position. That very day, Debi became an Express associate. After more interviews, Debi was hired at the Express International Headquarters on an

evaluation hire basis. Within three months, she was hired full time and has been at headquarters ever since.

“Needless to say, I was willing to do whatever I needed to do to find a home with Express Employment Professionals,” Debi said. “My happiness at work counted for a lot, and I knew that with hard work and dedication, everything would be fine. I just had my ninth anniversary with the company. I love Express and my job!

In helping someone else, I feel that is an

accomplishment in itself...

Debi is now working in the Assistance Center at Express, providing support for the franchises on a daily basis. She travels the country helping new franchisees open their offices and making sure their business gets off to a good start.

“Every day, there are successes. In helping someone else, I feel that is an accomplishment in itself, and that’s my job–to help other people,” Debi said. “All because I dressed for success.”

When Debi isn’t helping Express offices, she enjoys spending time with her grandson.
