Heather Koontz and Evan Brazille Supporting Each Other’s Dreams

hen Heather Koontz’ brother, Evan Brazille, needed a job, she sent him to Express Employment Professionals, a company that’s proven successful for her own job search.
As children, Heather and Evan lived in Amarillo, Texas. Then the family moved to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. “I played viola in the high school orchestra and worked on the high school newspaper staff,” Heather said. “At the University of Tulsa, I majored in film studies with a minor in creative writing. I had big dreams of writing the next blockbuster.”
After graduation, Heather met her future husband, Byron, and moved to Oklahoma City to be closer to him. “When I moved, I was very worried about finding a job. It was a major life change, and I didn’t have any work lined up,” Heather said.
That’s when she found Express Employment Professionals. Alongside Byron, Heather worked on a data entry contract for an energy company. When that contract ended, she noticed a post for a communications job at Express International Headquarters.
“Having worked with Express before, I knew it’s where I needed to be,” Heather said. “I applied right away.”
Heather got that job and is currently working in Marketing and Communications. “I work with some of the most knowledgeable people in the business and I’m learning so much about this field. Right now, this is a temporary position, but I love working here so much I’m hoping the company will see me as an asset and hire me permanently.”
When asked what she likes most about Express, she said, “The people at headquarters are
wonderful and they truly mean it when they say they’re trying to put a million people to work.”
Evan is currently a sophomore at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, majoring in mechanical engineering. When he began searching for a part-time job, Heather realized he needed some good advice. “I felt for him because he was going to school and had been out searching hard for a job,” Heather said. “So I just told Evan to go to the Stillwater Express office.”
When Evan walked into the Express office, he did not know what to expect. “The truth is that I wasn’t real sure exactly what Express did. Then I realized that the company’s whole reason for existence is to help folks find jobs – and they do it for free. I also appreciated the way the people there stick with you through the whole process. They treat you like you’re supposed to be treated. I got a job just a couple of days after my interviews.”
Through Express, Evan works in sales and support for an electronics company, and has even helped design some of their products. “I look forward to going to work because I like learning new things and having new experiences,” he said. “Mostly, of course, I’m happy to have that paycheck arrive every week.”
Together, Heather and Evan have done many things throughout the years, always supporting each other’s dreams and goals. As kids, they would make fun videos and then show them to friends. They work so well as a team it’s like they can read one another’s minds. They’ve written film scripts together and have even done some camera work together. And today, they both enjoy working for Express.
