Josh Baughman Following His Dreams
osh Baughman grew up around Express Employment Professionals. From when he was eight years old until he was 11, his mom worked in an Express office, so Josh would come by every day after school. Before long, he was running errands, working the copy machine, hangin’ out with the office workers, and chatting with job applicants who were waiting for appointments. Little did Josh realize that the relationship with Express would continue through the years.

Josh was raised in Odessa, Texas, and when he turned 16 it was natural for him to look to Express for temporary jobs in the summer. During the school year, he was busy with sports and lettered in football throughout high school. But once football season was over, he found after-school jobs through Express. Even when he went to college, Express helped Josh find part-time jobs to cover some of his expenses.
But, after only one year of college, Josh chose to go to work full time instead of completing his degree. “Sometimes I think that was a good idea. Sometimes I think it wasn’t, but that was the road I chose,” he said.
At age 22, Josh decided to open his own business. “I own a sandblasting company in Odessa. We sandblast drilling rigs and gas pipes and do all kinds of industrial sandblasting.”
As Josh began to get his business rolling, he went to Express for his workforce needs.
“If I need five or six employees as temporaries or full-time employees, I go to Express,” he said. “Right now, I have 35 people working for me, so business is doing really well.”
Today, at the age of 25, Josh is already a successful businessman. He is married to a school teacher and has a five-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter. Josh’s goal is to provide for his family in the same way his dad did for him and his brother.
“My dad was always motivated to make sure we never wanted for anything,” Josh said. “That’s my motivation now. I want my children to have whatever they need in their lives and to make the right choices.”
Josh’s booming business allows him to follow his dream. He’s also an avid racer for the American Sprint Car Series (ASCS), traveling to races throughout the country 35 to 40 weekends a year. He drives number 17, a Baughman Motorsport winged sprint car. “For me, racing is more than just a hobby. I love it and do it as often as I can.”
As busy as he is with family, business, and racing, Josh still drops by the Express office in Odessa whenever he can to see his friends. “I’ve continued to have a good relationship with everyone who works there. They’re a great company, and that’s why we’ve stuck with them as long as we have,” Josh said. “Express certainly helped me get where I am now.”
