Chris Green More Than He Dared to Imagine C hris Green was 20 years old when he

first learned about Express Employment Professionals. For two years Chris balanced work while taking part-time courses at a local junior college in Fort Worth, Texas. In 1998, he was feeling the difficulty of this balance and made the commitment to get ahead in life. He wasn’t sure what he needed to do, but he knew he had to do something.

Chris found an advertisement for Express in the newspaper and gave them a call. They told him they would be happy to schedule an interview. And although it didn’t take long for Express to find a placement for Chris, he had already found a job on his own, loading trucks at a shipping company in Dallas. It only took Chris two weeks to know that the job was not what he wanted. He called the Fort Worth Express office back and asked if the job they had found for him was still available. They told him it was. In fact, they told Chris he could start work the very next morning.

He went to work for a small company of about 40 people where he programmed data into mobile phones. After 90 days Chris was hired full time into the direct fulfillment area as part of the company’s programming group. His job was to gather specific information such as the customer phone number and the coverage area the customer needed, as well as the features

required. Once all this data was gathered, Chris would set up the phone service.

Hard work and attention to detail would continue to pay off for Chris during his career. Chris was promoted to team leader, and soon thereafter, he found himself promoted to coordinator and later to supervisor.

With the sudden increase in cell phone use in the U.S., the department he supervised grew from eight to 15 associates. Even with his expanded crew, the growth was so rapid that at one point they worked 12-16 hour shifts for more than a month without a single day off.

Chris continued to acquire new skills on the job. He was learning new procedures, technologies and systems at work. And the promotions kept coming. Two years later, a merger and another surge in business volume brought another promotion for Chris as he was named manager. Then in May 2011, at age 33, Chris was promoted to director.

He had started out as a temporary employee with a company of 40 workers and he now oversees 700 line workers, five managers, and 22 supervisors.

As the company has expanded through the years, Chris continues to work with Express for his hiring needs.
