l Gaming machines (Category B) can be operated in gaming halls and bingo parlours. There must be at least 10 gaming machines operated in a gaming hall.
l Roulette and Category A machines can only be oper- ated in casinos and there must be at least three gam- ing tables (of which one must be roulette table) and at least 30 Category A machines.
l Lotteries tax rate is five percent.
l Bingo, totalisators and betting are subject to 15 per- cent tax.
l Slot machines and table games pay a fixed fee – Category A pay LTL800 per month; Category B pay LTL300 per month and table games pay LTL6,000 per month.
In 2013 there were a total of 13 companies operating out of some 18 operating companies with licences. There were four companies operating casinos and eight oper- ating Category B gaming halls.
Last year two new casinos opened in the country and the number of Category B gaming halls increased from 121 to 136 between 2012 and 2013 whilst the number of betting shops dropped from 184 to 175 during the same year. There were 17 casinos in Lithuania in 2013.
Betting has the biggest market share in terms of rev- enue with 40 percent followed by Category B machines (32 per cent), table games with 19 per cent and Category A machines with nine per cent share.
THE CASINO OPERATORS OLYMPIC GROUP
The Olympic group started its operations in Estonia back in 1993 and today operates in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Belarus, Slovakia and Italy and is a member of the Lithuanian Gambling Operators Association.
Activities in Lithuania began in 2001 and as such Olympic became one of the first casino operators in the country. Today they operate nine casinos and three slot halls with 56 gaming tables and 370 slots.
The slot halls include Slot Hall Mandarinas and Bumerangas which are both in Vilnius. Bumerangas opened recently and is located in the Panorama Hotel next to the Stotis Casino. It has 26 Category B slots. Slot Hall Babilonas is the third gaming hall and is located in Panevezys offering slots.
Slots are provided mostly by IGT, Atronic, Bally and WMS and many are operated with EZ Pay Tickets instead of cash. Most Olympic casinos are connected to the Olympic Mystery Jackpot system with accumulated prizes.
