Ironwood Intros High Performance BGA Socket
Eagan, MN — Ironwood Electronics recently introduced a new BGA sock- et design that uses a high-perform- ance elastomer capable of 75 GHz
bandwidths up to 75 GHz with less than 1 dB of insertion loss. The socket is designed to dissi-
pate a few watts through the compres- sion screw and can be customized up to 100W with a modified fin design on top of the screw and with the addition of an axial flow fan. The contact resistance is typ- ically 30 mW per pin. The socket is mounted on

Other passive components can be placed on the back side of the PCB by creating custom cutouts in the stiffener plate. The socket is built with a clamshell lid, allowing ICs to be changed out quickly. The GT-BGA-2052 sock- et is constructed with a high-per- formance and low-inductance elastomer contactor. Its operat- ing temperature range is –55 to
