Waterloo, Ontario, Canada — Teledyne DALSA is presenting its new BOA™ Spot ID vision sensors — the latest in its series of low-cost and easy-to- integrate vision solutions for the factory floor. BOA Spot ID combines 1D/2D code reading with OCR and verification tools for a number of product iden- tification and verification applications, including quality control, traceability and logistics manage- ment, and product validation. The sensors are available in two models. A


standard IDS model includes the core 1D/2D decoders, while the expanded IDE model adds advanced direct part marking (DPM) decoding, OCR and verification tools. These new vision sen- sors can decode 1D barcodes with bar widths and spacing down to 1.5 pixels and 2D matrix codes with cell or dot sizes down to 2 pixels. Image filters and control parameters are provided to enhance readability of poorly printed codes and codes print- ed on plastic or metallic surfaces using laser/chem- ical etch, ink jet or dot peen marking methods. Flemington, NJ — CBI all-in-one UPS (uninterruptible power supply) power solutions from Altech® com- bine multiple functions in a single device for use as a power supply unit, battery charger, battery care module, or as a backup module. The device is compatible with a range of common battery types and is fully equipped with a real-time diagnostics system to continuously monitor battery sta- tus, charging levels, and potential battery faults. The CBI device suits battery-power applications in any setting where battery reliability and backup power are essential. The CBI UPS device is available


in 12, 24 and 48 VDC output versions for pairing with conventional battery types, including open lead acid, sealed lead acid, lead gel, and nickel- cadmium (NiCd). The device has three charging levels (recovery, boost and trickle), allows for adjustment of charging current from 20 to 100 per- cent of output current, and automat- ically distributes available power between load and battery. Efficiency up to 91 percent is achieved through its switching technology. The device’s battery-charging


function is microprocessor-controlled and uses algorithms to detect a bat- tery’s condition and then choose the appropriate charging mode. Real- time diagnostics enable easy battery diagnosis and fault identification dis- played by LED to protect against potentially occurring faults, such as short circuit, inverted polarity, over- load, or disconnection of the battery. If the CBI device ever becomes dis- connected from the main power source, the battery will serve to sup- ply the load until battery voltage reaches 1.5V per cell, preventing deep battery discharge. The CBI device performs over a wide tempera- ture range from –40 to +70°C (–40 to +158°F) and is housed in a compact and rugged metal case offered in three sizes. The device can be DIN-rail
